Description: The Service Technician is responsible for performing routine and complex boat maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure each vessel is returned to the customer in safe, reliable, and seaworthy condition.
Qualifications:
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in marine automotive, diesel, or mechanical repair
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, fuel, HVAC, and onboard systems
• Proficiency using standard tools, meters, diagnostic equipment, and handheld power tools
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to marina and remote locations
• Must be able to work safely around docks, vessels, water, and lifting equipment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while following JBYS safety and service standards Preferred (but not required)
• Marine-specific experience, including outboards, sterndrives, inboard gas/diesel systems
• Experience with Volvo, Mercury, Yamaha, Kohler, Garmin, Raymarine or SIMRAD, Seakeeper
• ABYC coursework or certification (or willingness to earn during employment)
• Experience with electronics installation, rigging, NMEA troubleshooting or generators
• Knowledge of seasonal service work: winterization, commissioning, shrink-wrapping, and launch prep
• Comfort test-running boats, docking, and operating vessels up to 50’+
