The 2015 new model year for boats is showcasing a number of innovative changes, making boats more maneuverable, “smart” and luxurious!
“Smart technology is coming to boating,” said MBIA Executive Director Nicki Polan. “It’s all really incredible. Ski boats can be programmed to remember the speed and distance information for a specific skier by name in a computerized system.” Other technology upgrades seen are USB ports and Bluetooth technology for smart phones and MP3 players, quiet ride technology with materials that are “sound deadening” making engine noise 30 percent quieter than in the past, adjustable seating, retractable roof tops and further advancement with joystick docking making boats of all sizes easy to maneuver into a dock.
New engines debuted in Detroit this February from three leading marine manufacturers bringing reduced emissions, better fuel efficiency and more torque than the leading four-stroke engine.
“Many boaters are looking for one boat that can do it all, and ‘crossovers’ are also popular,” said Polan. “For example, tritoons have the space and comfort of a pontoon but offer a more stable ride, faster on-plane, and tighter turning radius. Other crossover boats suit the fisherman, offer more seating and can also pull skiers and tubers.”
